Fragments of last year's asteroid have been found
Astronomers have detected for the first time an asteroid which collided with the Earth.
In October last year, an asteroid was spotted in Arizona, USA. Before it hit the Earth, it disintegrated in the Earth's Atmosphere. Now, March 2009, astronomers found more than 50 pieces of the Asteroid in the desert of Sudan.

Scientists believe that the asteroid was about the size of a small car. Using telescopes all over the world they managed to track it down.

The Asteroid was made of a particularly fragile material that caused it to explode into a fireball at a height of 37 kilometres, (23miles) altitude, before it was significantly slowed down.
